Originally trained as an Integrative Psychotherapist, I take an open, transparent and collaborative approach to therapy.  My special interest lies in trauma, and in particular, complex trauma, resulting in psychological and physical responses such as acute anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and complex PTSD (C-PTSD), Dissociation and Dissociative Disorders, including Non -Epileptic Seizures (NES) and Non-Epileptic Attack Disorder (NEAD) and Dissociative Identity Disorder.

 

My approach with these conditions is to collaboratively work on reducing distressing symptoms using grounding and other techniques whilst building inner resources; developing awareness and co-operation between parts in DID/partial DID to improve efficacy in different life domains and increased stabilisation overall. EMDR can be used as an additional strategy and I generally find this to be an effective part of the therapy.

 

I originally trained at Regent’s University London, obtaining an MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling in 2006 and an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy in 2013, and, as a result, accreditation with the UK Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP). 

 

Beyond my initial training, I have undertaken various further training and supervision in Dissociation and Dissociative Disorders, Body Psychotherapy and Eating Disorders.

 

In 2019, I completed training in Eye Movement Desenitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) with EMDR Works Ltd.  I am a member of the EMDR UK Association.  EMDR now forms an integral part of my work.

 

I work mainly in private practice, but I have also volunteered as a therapist for CHOICES since 2011.  CHOICES is a charity in Cambridge that provides therapy for adults having suffered childhood sexual abuse and for which I am also a trustee.
