Screening tools

 

Screening tools can be used to assess the level of dissociative symptoms experienced and indicate whether it would be useful to consider a more in- depth diagnostic approach.

 

The Dissociative Experience Scale (DES – 2) 

The DES 2 is a self- report questionnaire that can be easily completed and scored. link

 

Somatoform Dissociation Questionnaire (SDQ-20) link

The SDQ – 20 evaluates the extent of somatic dissociation or in other words where there are physical symptoms that have no medical explanation.

 

The Structural Clinical Interview for DSM-IV 
This is an in- depth tool that requires specific training in its use.
